ImagineFX issue 51

Imagine FX magazine

ImagineFX is focusing on character design in issue 51, leading with a workshop to accompany Dan LuVisi’s powerful soldier cover.

Within we’re looking at character design with a Steampunk twist in Antonio Caparo’s workshop, Davide Bianca and his Saizen Studio cohorts create a stunning character for the commercial market, and we delve into a world populated by the character creations of games artist visionary Colin Fix.

If you like Batman, Aliens or Star Wars, you can enjoy the interview with 30-year fantasy art veteran Dave Dorman, and for something different, follow it up with Berlin native Benita Winckler’s workshop on how to create vivid skin. Elsewhere IFX regular Nick Harris explores the potential of ArtRage3, and there are Derek Tsai’s top ten tips on using narrative to create believable characters.

The DVD provides assets for these, and the many more, workshops and interviews, as well as boasting a female anatomy reference photo set, 163 Photoshop brushes, another smashing Charles Bernard video tutorial, a Gnomon robot sample, Painter 11 & Photoshop CS3 trials and loads more. And a note to all UK IFX fans - the magazine is now stocked by Asda (cue jingle).
