Rising Stars 2012

Imagine FX Rising Stars 2012

ImagineFX's Rising Stars competition is back, and it's bigger and better than ever. We're looking for the finest artists working in fantasy and sci-fi art today. We've scrapped the age limit, and with new categories and an all-star panel of judges, this is the perfect chance for you to make a name for yourself in the area that you want to shine in. And there's a whopping £20,000-worth of prizes to be won - just in case you needed the extra incentive!

The Prizes
There's over £20,000-worth of prizes to be won by the ten over all winners - two winners to be chosen from each category by ImagineFX and our panel of judges.
We've teamed up with big names of the digital fantasy and sci-fi art world to offer piles of prizes, including a year's subscription to Gnomon and Digital Art Academy, classes at Schoolism, copies of Painter 12 and new art books from Design Studio Press. Plus the winner of the Corel Painter category will be bequeathed the title of Painter Master, held by such luminaries as Ryan Church, Philip Straub and Todd Lockwood.

Rules
It's really simple. Choose the category that you want to enter, select your five strongest pieces of art, and send them to risingstars@imaginefx.com, or in the post (address below). There's no age limit, the competition is open around the world, and we accept digital and traditional art. Just don't send us your original paintings. Five high-resolution images via email or on a disc via post will be fine!

Corel Painter 12The Judges

Categories
With a host of revered judges and digital art companies involved in Rising Stars 2012, we thought we'd give all entrants a chance to shine in their ideal fields. But remember, you can only choose one category! Remember to specify your chosen category in the subject line of your email!

If you love comics or manga, then choose Comic Art, sponsored by Schoolism, and you'll have the likes of Marvel man CB Cebulski pouring over your portfolio. Choose Video Game Art, sponsored by NCsoft, and your art will be scrutanised by Kekai Kotaki and Sam Didier amongst others. Our Environment Art section, sponsored by Gnomon, will give all you budding concept artists a chance to show off your chops, and the Illustration Art category, sponsored by Design Studio Press, is a great choice for anyone with a passion for book covers, posters or card art. This year Corel Painter has their own category. The criteria? You must paint using Corel Painter. The rest is up to you!

The 10 best entries, chosen by the ImagineFX team and seven esteemed judges (right) will not only get their share of prizes valued at over £20,000, but their art will also feature in issue 90 of ImagineFX, on sale in the UK 9 November (up to four weeks in the rest of the world).

How to enter
This competition is open worldwide! So once you've put together your killer portfolio with your chosen category in mind, either email it to risingstars@imaginefx.com
(JPGs or TIFs - 10MB limit per email).

Closing date for Rising Stars 2012 is midnight (GMT) 15 October.

All entries must be submitted by 15 October 2012.
